In order to obtain a visa to Tanzania please provide the following:
Tourist Visa
- Submit your U.S. Passport (must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival
date)
- One Visa Application
Form, fully completed and signed
- One Passport-type photograph
- Copy of recent Bank Statement is required
- If traveling with a tour group, a letter from the tour operator confirming
full payment has been received.
- If traveling individually, a photocopy of the airline tickets is preferred,
or travel agency/airline itinerary. If tickets are not available, the bank
statement must show min. USD2,000 available funds.
Business Visa
- Submit your U.S. Passport (must be valid at least 6 months beyond arrival
date)
- One Visa Application
Form, fully completed and signed
- One Passport-type photograph
- A business letter of invitation from Tanzanian counterpart or a letter
of responsibility from the sending US company typewritten on your company
letterhead and addressed to the Embassy of Tanzania, Visa Section, Washington
D.C. The letter must state all of the following:
- The purpose of travel
- Business reference to be visited
- Guarantee financial support for the applicant
- Guarantee of return transportation to the U.S.A.
- Visas for research and journalism will only be granted after the applicant
have been cleared by the commission for science and technology (COSTECH),

Notes:
- Tanzania visa is valid for six months from the date of issuance. In the
event the visa expires before it is utilized, the applicant will have to
re-apply for a new one.
- Single and double entries tourist visas are valid for stay of up to 3
months. For a stay of more than 3 months special pass will be issued at
any immigration office in Tanzania. Tanzania embassies do not issue multiple
entries visas.
- Immunization against cholera and anti-malaria pills is recommended.
- Yellow fever vaccination is not required for traveling to Tanzania.
- License or certificate for pets is required if traveling with pets.
