Tourist Visas
Eligibility for Tourist Visa as follows:
- Tourism trip;
- visit to relatives and/or friends;
- scientists, professors or researchers attending cultural, technological or scientific conferences, seminars.
(In this case, an invitation letter must be submitted)
- participation in artistic or amateur sport competitions, whenever no monetary prize or paid admission is involved. (In this case, an invitation letter must be submitted)
Submit the Following:
- U.S. Passport (not a copy), must be valid for 6 months from date of entry,
and contain at least one blank visa page.
- 1 Brazil Visa Application
form, fully completed and signed (parents must sign the application
forms for those under 18 years of age).
The Brazil Consulate requires that all tourist applicants complete the section
"Comments" under Question #21 (Purpose of Trip) of the visa application
form. Applicants must explain in complete detail all they are going to do
while in Brazil. We recommend making the explanation on a separate page.
- One (1) recent professional passport-type photograph
- Copy of bank statement showing available funds
- Copy of driver's license
- Copy of a round-trip ticket or a signed letter
on travel agency stationary with confirmed round trip bookings;
- For Minors, please include a birth certificate and a notarized letter of consent from non-accompanying parent (click here to download)
For Business visa:
- U.S. Passport
- 1 Brazil Visa Application
form,
- One (1) recent professional passport-type photograph
- Copy of driver's license
- Copy of a round-trip ticket or a signed letter
on travel agency stationary with confirmed round trip bookings;
- One (1) Brazil specific business letter (Sample Letter)
Fees and processing time:
Tourist visa: $185 - 5-7 days processing
Business visa: $250 - 5-7 days processing
Return mail: please include a self-addressed
pre-paid envelope or $18 for FedEx delivery.
Note: First arrival in Brazil must take place
within 90 days from the date the visa was issued. This visa is good for multiple
entries for the time of the visa's duration (for authorized stays of up to
90 days per visit within that period). If necessary, an extension may be obtained
from the Federal Police in Brazil, if requested at least 30 days prior to
its expiration, for a total stay of up to 180 days per year.
The Embassy processing fee is non-refundable. Visa applications which are
rejected by the Embassy for reasons of incomplete or missing documents, or
lacking specific business letter details, will be returned WITHOUT the Embassy
processing fee.
